This was a study group of artists and organizers mostly based in the South but spread pretty far — NYC, Cali, North Carolina, Georgia —because I shared the invite into the study group on twitter.
We went through the curriculum on a monthly basis for the better part of a year. We’d watch the videos ahead of time and have some discussion about the content on the facilitator slides.
This curriculum is an excellent grounding in the economy for folks that care to transform it. It showed our group the ways in which the people actually have power over the economy and can use economics as a tool for changing our lives. After running through the course I actually showed my mom the video about care work and reproductive labor. Because of it, we had some really important conversations about her life experiences and the things she wants to change about the ways she labors for others.
